This Cookie Policy explains how swirydowicz.dev, hereinafter referred to as the “Website”, uses cookies and similar technologies.

This Cookie Policy should be read together with the Website’s Privacy Policy.

The Website is operated from Poland. The use of cookies is therefore governed by applicable European Union law and the relevant provisions of Polish law implementing EU rules relating to privacy in electronic communications.

1. Controller

The controller of the Website and of personal data processed in connection with cookies is:

Marek Świrydowicz
email: hello@swirydowicz.dev

If you have questions about cookies, privacy or the processing of your personal data, you may contact me using the email address above.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files or pieces of information stored on a user’s device when using a website.

Cookies and similar technologies may be used to:

  • enable the Website to function correctly,
  • maintain security,
  • remember user preferences,
  • remember the selected language,
  • remember cookie consent choices,
  • analyse Website usage,
  • create anonymous or aggregate usage statistics.

The Website may also use similar technologies such as browser local storage (localStorage) or other mechanisms used to store preferences on a user’s device.

For the purposes of this Policy, references to “cookies” may also include such similar technologies where applicable.

3. Categories of cookies

3.1. Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies support the proper and secure operation of the Website and functions specifically requested by the user.

They may be used for purposes including:

  • storing cookie consent preferences,
  • maintaining Website security,
  • enabling forms to function correctly,
  • remembering the language selected by the user,
  • providing technical WordPress functionality,
  • remembering interface settings specifically selected by the user.

Where storage of or access to information is strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user or to transmit a communication, such technologies may be used without additional consent where permitted by applicable law.

3.2. Functional and preference cookies

Functional cookies may be used to remember additional settings that are not strictly necessary for the Website to operate.

For example, they may remember particular display or interface preferences.

Depending on their purpose and implementation, these technologies may require consent.

3.3. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies are used to understand how visitors interact with the Website.

They may help analyse information such as:

  • the number of visits,
  • pages visited,
  • approximate duration of visits,
  • device type,
  • browser and operating system,
  • approximate traffic source,
  • interaction with Website features.

Analytics cookies are activated only after the user has given prior consent.

3.4. Marketing cookies

The Website does not currently intend to use cookies for behavioural advertising or remarketing.

If such technologies are introduced in the future, they will be activated only after the required consent has been obtained, and this Cookie Policy will be updated accordingly.

4. Session and persistent cookies

Cookies may also be classified according to how long they remain on a device.

Session cookies are generally deleted when the browsing session ends or when the browser is closed.

Persistent cookies remain on the user’s device for a defined period or until they are manually deleted.

The lifetime of a particular cookie depends on its purpose and the configuration of the service that sets it.

5. Legal basis

Storing information on a user’s device or accessing information already stored on that device is carried out in accordance with applicable European Union law and the Polish Act of 12 July 2024 – Electronic Communications Law (Prawo komunikacji elektronicznej).

Cookies and similar technologies that are not strictly necessary to transmit a communication or provide a service explicitly requested by the user are used only after obtaining consent.

Where information obtained through cookies constitutes personal data, further processing is also subject to the GDPR.

Where personal data is processed on the basis of consent, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Where personal data relating to strictly necessary technologies is processed for security or the proper operation of the Website, the processing may also be based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, namely the controller’s legitimate interest in ensuring the security and proper operation of the Website.

6. Consent management

When you first visit the Website, you may be presented with a cookie consent interface allowing you to decide whether optional cookies may be used.

You may be able to:

  • accept optional cookies,
  • reject optional cookies,
  • choose specific categories,
  • continue using only strictly necessary cookies.

Refusing optional cookies does not prevent you from using the core functions of the Website.

Cookies that require consent are not activated before that consent has been obtained.

7. Withdrawing or changing consent

You may change or withdraw your consent to optional cookies at any time.

You can do this using the Cookie Settings function available on the Website.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.

You may also delete cookies directly through your browser settings.

8. Google Analytics 4

This section applies once Google Analytics 4 has been enabled on the Website.

The Website may use Google Analytics 4 to prepare statistics and analyse how visitors use the Website.

Within the European Economic Area, the service is provided by Google Ireland Limited.

Google Analytics may process information concerning:

  • pages visited,
  • approximate duration of visits,
  • traffic source,
  • device type,
  • browser,
  • operating system,
  • approximate location,
  • interactions with Website content.

Google Analytics is activated only after the user has consented to analytics cookies.

The legal basis for the processing carried out by the Website controller in this context is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time through the Website’s cookie settings.

Google operates global technical infrastructure and data may in some circumstances be processed outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, such transfers must rely on a transfer mechanism permitted under Chapter V GDPR, such as an applicable European Commission adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards.

9. Google Search Console

The Website may use Google Search Console to analyse its presence in Google search results and identify technical issues.

The administrator’s use of Google Search Console does not itself require the Website to install additional analytics cookies on a visitor’s device.

10. Language preferences

The Website is available in Polish and English.

Technical storage mechanisms may be used to remember the language selected by the user.

Where such storage is necessary to remember a choice explicitly made by the user, it may be treated as necessary for providing the function requested by that user.

11. Website appearance preferences

The Website may allow users to select particular display settings, such as a light or dark theme.

The selected preference may be stored on the user’s device so that the chosen appearance can be retained during future visits.

12. Third-party cookies

Where the Website uses third-party services, certain cookies or similar technologies may be set by those service providers.

Depending on the service and circumstances, such providers may act as independent controllers or processors acting on behalf of the Website controller.

Third-party technologies requiring consent are not intentionally activated by the Website before the required consent has been obtained.

13. Current list of cookies

The current list of cookies used by the Website may be displayed in the Cookie Settings interface.

Where available, this information may include:

  • cookie name,
  • provider,
  • purpose,
  • category,
  • expiry period.

The list may change as the Website and the technologies it uses evolve.

14. Browser settings

Most web browsers allow users to:

  • view stored cookies,
  • delete cookies,
  • block some or all cookies,
  • delete cookies when the browser is closed,
  • restrict third-party cookies.

Completely blocking cookies may cause some Website functionality to stop working correctly.

Browser-level settings operate independently from the consent management interface provided by the Website.

15. Personal data

To the extent that information collected through cookies or similar technologies constitutes personal data, the Website’s Privacy Policy also applies.

The Privacy Policy contains further information about:

  • the data controller,
  • purposes and legal bases for processing,
  • recipients of personal data,
  • retention periods,
  • international data transfers,
  • your rights under the GDPR.

16. Changes to this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy may be updated where necessary, including following:

  • changes in applicable law,
  • changes to the technologies used by the Website,
  • implementation of additional analytics services,
  • implementation of new third-party services,
  • changes to the way the Website operates.

The current version will always be available on the Website together with the date on which it was most recently updated.
